  1. Thank you for your comment on my blog about Susan Sarback. I started and "unnoffical club for students of Susan Sarback" on Facebook, which you are welcome to join.

    When you do the technique with the knife or pastels, the paint does not mix, but it sort of "marbleizes". When you use a brush, it MIXES, and you loose the vibrancy. Sometimes now I put down the first step with a brush, but then you have to use the knife. It is that non-mixing that makes it glow. The colors from the tube, plus white, are as bright as they can be. Mixing them with the brush is what dulls them down. That's okay if that's what you are going for.
